and Development (ASPU)
// INSA Strasbourg

The Master 2 Urban Planning and Development ASPU (Architecture, Structures and Urban Projects) is cohered by the Ecole nationale supérieure d’architecture de Strasbourg (ENSAS) and the Institut national des sciences appliquées (INSA) of Strasbourg.

Directly linked to the AMUP research laboratory (EA 7309), the training combines research with a professional career in the fields of urban planning, architecture, urban structures and urban projects. It is open to architects, engineers and holders of an M1 level education with priority given to geography, urban planning, development, sociology, economics, history, civil engineering, law and environment.

The training is oriented towards the deepening, at the scale of the urban agglomeration, cities and neighborhoods, of knowledge, methods and techniques of territorial diagnosis for the formulation of a coherent urban project and responding to the issues highlighted by the diagnosis. The teaching consists in illustrating the way in which project processes can integrate and contribute to the implementation of choices relating to the evolution of urban structures whose spatial inscription is inscribed in the long term.

The course examines the project demands made by different project owners at different periods of urban morphogenesis and confronts them with the evolution of construction techniques and standards as well as with the evolution of urban planning rules and models. It measures their importance by situating them in decision-making processes where actors and institutions, professionals and inhabitants interact.
